Inis Mor Ferries, Galway
 Inis Mór Ferries is the dream come true of 5 Aran fishermen. Though living on Inis Mór, their work commitments meant frequent travelling to and from the Island.
A need for the Islanders to operate their own service was long overdue so in the year 2000 a suitable yard was found in France where the brand new vessel, Queen of Aran II, was constructed and launched in June 2001.
This was a very proud moment for the Islanders. Prior to this the people of Aran were always reliant on either private companies from the mainland or the state to provide a service. Now they had their very own brand new ferry, Queen of Aran II, to give this service, especially one that would be more sensitive to the needs of the Islanders themselves.
